IASP Glasgow 2024 – innovation conference
2024-04-26Discussing innovation in an ever-changing world – IASP Glasgow 2024 conference
IASP Glasgow 2024 is a conference where science parks and innovation zones can meet and learn from each other for the benefit of the whole community.
Innovation ecosystems from around the world gathered in Glasgow to network and share their expertise to find solutions for further development and growth. IASP Glasgow 2024 was attended by 70 member organisations from 25 countries, including Australia, the USA and Canada. Discussions focused on the similarities and differences between science and innovation districts – and how the taxonomy of the industry is evolving.
The conference kicked off with a Civic Reception at the iconic Glasgow City Chambers, where delegates were treated to an evening of local music, networking and the historic ambience of one of Glasgow’s most historic buildings. The evening set the tone for a series of engaging and insightful discussions around the future of innovation districts and science parks.
Day two was packed with insightful sessions and panel discussions. They addressed practical aspects of innovation and collaboration, creating diverse and inclusive ecosystems. The discussions highlighted global perspectives with participants from the UK, Italy, Canada, Barcelona, Sweden and Australia, among others.
Dr Justyna Adamska, our Deputy Director, moderated a panel entitled ‘Deep dive into the development of innovation ecosystems within science parks around the world’. She touched on a variety of topics revolving around good experiences and practices developed in institutions. Discussions highlighted the successful initiatives and programmes that have strengthened capabilities and emphasised the importance of creating environments that support risk-taking and experimentation, without losing sight of potential challenges.
The final day of IASP Glasgow 2024 included an interactive workshop focused on identifying challenges facing innovation ecosystems and brainstorming solutions to drive innovation. Topics such as skills and talent, investment and sustainability were explored and provided valuable insights.
We’re very grateful to be part of such an inspiring association that is helping to develop innovation.
