The Enterprise Europe Network operating at the Poznań Science and Technology Park supports the voice of entrepreneurs, which can be taken into account in the process of developing European regulations. The European Commission is currently conducting public consultations on guidelines for mergers and acquisitions.
These documents set out how the Commission assesses the impact of mergers and acquisitions on competition in the European Union’s internal market. The aim of the consultation is to ensure that such transactions, among other things, do not restrict competition, lead to price increases, hinder innovation or reduce the quality of products and services. This is particularly important for SMEs and start-ups, which may be exposed to restrictions on their growth and scaling opportunities in the event of excessive concentration of suppliers or business partners.
The consultation takes two forms: a general one, covering questions on the assessment of mergers and acquisitions, and a technical one, covering specific areas such as competitiveness, innovation, sustainable development, digitalisation and the labour market.
The experiences and opinions shared in the surveys will be used to create fairer competition rules in the European Union.
The deadline for responses is 3 September 2025.
