PPNT shares its experience with the initiators of a new science park in Czechia

26.06.2026

On 23 June, PPNT hosted representatives of MATERIÁLOVÝ A METALURGICKÝ VÝZKUM, s.r.o., the initiators of CirkPark — a Science and Technology Park planned to be established in Třinec, in the Moravian-Silesian Region.

The purpose of the visit was to exchange experience, identify potential areas of cooperation and present PPNT’s laboratory infrastructure. The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss plans for the development of CirkPark, which is intended to serve as a modern centre for testing, validation, demonstration and pilot implementation of technologies.

The planned infrastructure is to be developed on an approximately five-hectare post-industrial site of a former slag heap belonging to Třinec Ironworks. Its role will be to connect research with the practical application of technologies, including their verification, piloting and scaling under real and simulated conditions. The scope of CirkPark’s activities is expected to include, among others, the circular economy, materials, energy, hydrogen, energy storage, advanced testing, dual-use technologies and digital infrastructure.

The meeting was attended by Jakub Švrček, CEO; Jozef Vlček, CTO; Alejandro Sans Lara, R&D Strategy Development Manager; and Silvia Bolognesi, Project Manager and Technology Transfer Specialist. On behalf of PPNT, discussions on the Park’s experience, its operations and possible joint directions for further activities were held by Ph.D., Eng. Marcin Śmiglak, Vice-President of the Management Board, together with PPNT experts and specialists: Kamila Dobek, Roman Niedzielski, Julia Kobierska, Krzysztof Wiśniewski and Szymon Roszak.
