{"id":17304,"date":"2024-10-07T08:45:51","date_gmt":"2024-10-07T08:45:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ppnt.poznan.pl\/ppnt-researchers-publish-in-prestigious-scientific-journals\/"},"modified":"2024-10-07T08:45:51","modified_gmt":"2024-10-07T08:45:51","slug":"ppnt-researchers-publish-in-prestigious-scientific-journals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ppnt.poznan.pl\/en\/ppnt-researchers-publish-in-prestigious-scientific-journals\/","title":{"rendered":"PPNT Researchers Publish in Prestigious Scientific Journals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the Pozna\u0144 Science and Technology Park (PPNT), we are proud to announce that <strong><span style=\"color: #00a070;\">research conducted by our scientists is being published in some of the world\u2019s most prestigious scientific journals<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A&nbsp;research team led by prof.&nbsp;Hieronim Maciejewski delivered a&nbsp;<strong><span style=\"color: #00a070;\">breakthrough project<\/span><\/strong> on <strong><span style=\"color: #00a070;\">modern flame-retardant agents<\/span><\/strong>, earning recognition from the international scientific community. <\/p>\n<p>Protecting textiles against fire has long been a&nbsp;challenge across many sectors\u2014from the clothing industry to construction and furniture manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>Naturally flammable materials such as cotton require effective fire protection, while at the same time there is growing attention to the health and environmental safety of the chemicals used.<\/p>\n<p>Until now, many flame-retardant compounds have been based on toxic halogens or formaldehyde, posing risks to human health and the environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #00a070;\">PPNT\u2019s research team has developed an innovative solution that eliminates these issues.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #00a070;\">The new flame-retardant agent<\/span><\/strong>, based on compounds containing phosphorus, sulfur and silicon\u2014was created using an advanced chemical process known as the <strong><span style=\"color: #00a070;\">thiol\u2013ene click<\/span><\/strong> reaction. As a&nbsp;result, the developed compounds contain no harmful halogens or formaldehyde, and their effectiveness relies on a&nbsp;sol\u2013gel process that forms a&nbsp;durable protective coating on cotton fibres. <\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #00a070;\">The solution reduces the heat release rate by 75%<\/span><\/strong>, significantly improving the fabric\u2019s resistance to fire.<\/p>\n<p>Importantly, <strong><span style=\"color: #00a070;\">the coating remains effective even after ten wash cycles<\/span><\/strong>, demonstrating its durability and stability in everyday use.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-21682 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/ppnt.poznan.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Posty-IG-8-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"390\" height=\"390\"><\/p>\n<p>The research results were published in one of the most prestigious scientific journals &#8211; <strong><span style=\"color: #00a070;\"><span style=\"color: #00a070;\">Scientific Reports<\/span><\/span><\/strong> (Nature portfolio) &#8211; under the title:<br \/>\u201cSynthesis of phosphorus, sulfur and silicon-containing flame retardant via thiol-ene click reaction and its use for durable finishing of cotton fabric\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This innovative flame-retardant agent is an excellent example of how <strong><span style=\"color: #00a070;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #00a070;\">PPNT supports the development of new, safe and environmentally friendly technologies<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/strong> with real industrial applications.
