We support research – scholarships for Ph.D. students awarded
2016-11-10AMU Foundation, with Poznan Science and Technology Park being part of it, has awarded scholarships to Ph.D. students for the academic year 2016/2017. The scholarships are aimed at young researchers from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, especially those who carry out applied research.
One of the key objectives of AMU Foundation is to transfer research results to business and industry. To a large extent, this is achieved through the activities of AMU Foundation’s Poznan Science and Technology Park which supports innovative start-ups. However, in order for these companies to emerge and develop at PSTP, the Foundation supports research in various fields by offering scholarships to Ph.D. students of Adam Mickiewicz University.
In this year’s edition we received 160 applications out of which 14 were selected. The official award ceremony took place on 10 November 2016. Each Ph.D. student who has been awarded the scholarship for the academic year 2016/2017 will receive PLN 15,000 (approx. EUR 3,500).
The objective of the Ph.D. scholarship programme is to develop intellectual capital and, as a result, to promote innovativeness and academic entrepreneurship. Each year several outstanding Ph.D. students receive scholarships. The assessment criteria on the basis of which the scholarships are awarded take into account the researchers’ involvement in scientific endeavours, innovative methodologies and research avenues, as well as the applicability of the research.
Since the creation of the scholarship programme we have received and processed almost 1,000 applications. 136 scholarships have been awarded to Ph.D. students representing both the sciences and humanities of the total value of approx. PLN 2 million (EUR 500,000).
In 2011 our scholarship programme was awarded the Dobre Stypendia 2011 (Good Scholarships 2011) prize in the category: “University scholarship programmes”.
