Poznań – the host of the European High Pressure Research Group Meeting 2017
2017-09-15For six days in September Poznań was a capital city of high pressure research. 230 researchers and representatives of companies using high-pressure solutions were hosted at the Faculty of Chemistry of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań at the 55th European High Pressure Research Group Meeting. The event was co-organised by PSTP (more information about our conference management services).
Researchers from as many as 26 countries came to Poznań. Chemists, geologists and physicists attended 28 conference sessions. “55th European High Pressure Research Group Meeting: High Pressure Science and Technology” was held on 3-8 September and it was one of the largest conferences we have ever co-organised. The lectures and presentations were delivered in English.
One of the plenary talks was given by Ho-Kwang Mao – an American geologist of Chinese origin. Prof. Ho-Kwang is known for his publications on the use of diamond anvil cells in high-pressure research.
The conference was also attended by Prof. Leonid Dubrovinsky, who was awarded the “Gregori Aminoff Prize in Crystallography 2017 of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences” this year – the award which is referred to as the Nobel Prize in crystallography. Prof. Dubrovinsky was distinguished for creating a new methodology used in structural, experimental high-pressure and high-temperature research. He also gave an open lecture in the AMU lecture hall. The event was attended by several dozen people, including students of Poznań chemistry schools. The lecture was preceded by spectacular chemistry shows prepared by AMU Ph.D. students.
The event was supported and sponsored by several companies specialising in the production of highly specialised state-of-the-art equipment used by researchers in their studies.
