The Poznań Science and Technology Park, together with its spin-off company Innosil, has obtained a patent for an innovative technology called “designable salicylates,” developed within the framework of the TEAM-TECH project funded by the Foundation for Polish Science.
The invention relates to ionic derivatives of carboxylic acid used as substances that prevent damage caused by viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Designed salicylates interact with plant metabolism, particularly the production of salicylic acid, which acts as a natural plant hormone. The substance also regulates key processes such as photosynthesis and plant immune mechanisms.
The use of designed salicylates limits the negative impact of biotic stresses caused by plant pathogens that cause diseases, damage tissues, deplete nutrients, and disrupt life processes.
Thanks to patented technology, it is possible to increase the natural resistance of plants, reduce their susceptibility to diseases, and maintain the yield potential of crops. The commercialization process for the invention, which is being carried out by the spin-off company ATI, has already begun.
