On October 30, a meeting with representatives of the Caribbean Climate Innovation Center (CCIC) from Jamaica was held at the PPNT headquarters. The participants met as part of the EU-LAC Innovation Cooperation project, an initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation between the innovation ecosystems of the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean.
The relationship between PPNT and CCIC began in Bogota in 2024 as part of the EU-LAC Innovation Cooperation project. This was followed by an online meeting aimed at exchanging experiences. PPNT representatives also had the opportunity to lead one of the workshops as part of the acceleration program (The Caribbean Climate Innovation Center Accelerator Program) on strategies for obtaining financing and the financial and legal aspects of business transactions. The next meeting took place at the PPNT headquarters.

The visit of the CCIC delegates was a great opportunity to discuss the specific characteristics of our regions. Our experts—Michał Wujewski, Anna Padewska-Organ, Krzysztof Nowaczyk, and Joanna Mazur – focused on presenting EU tools and programs also available to Jamaican entities, primarily Horizon Europe, and services offered by the EEN network, which is expanding its activities in the Caribbean, as well as sharing conclusions from the acceleration and implementation of ESG projects. Details about our agglomeration were comprehensively presented by the UMP Investor Cooperation Office, for which we are very grateful.
The meeting allowed participants to identify similarities and differences in aspects important for technological development in both regions. For example, support for early-stage startups, which is common in Europe, is more difficult to access in Jamaica. However, Jamaica is essentially a region that strives to tailor the development of new technologies to local needs. Together with the CCIC, three startups supported by them took part in the meeting, dealing with vertical farming, innovative fuels, and water purification and desalination.
We would like to thank all our guests—it was a unique meeting. Partnerships and cooperation are particularly important to us.
