MEETING OF THE STEERING COMMITTEE OF THE LIFE AFTER COAL PROJECT
2023-10-04THE STEERING COMMITTEE OF THE LIFE AFTER COAL (LAC) PROJECT MET ON THURSDAY 28. THE MAIN TOPIC OF THE EVENT WAS GREEN STANDARDS, I.E. ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY SOLUTIONS. CONSEQUENTLY, THESE STANDARDS WILL BE TAKEN UP DURING FUTURE LAC MEETINGS AND INITIATIVES.
During the meeting discussions were held on the importance of green transformation in Eastern Greater Poland. Specifically, they covered issues in the areas of transport, food and materials.
On behalf of Poznan Science and Technology Park , Dr Justyna Adamska, Deputy Director of PSTP, participates in the work of the Steering Committee.
The Life After Coal project is a response to the challenges facing Eastern Wielkopolska. They are related to the need to significantly reduce the use of fossil fuels while maintaining energy security. To this end, the development of energy produced from RES is being facilitated.
Additionally, the dramatic impact of the climate crisis was on the agenda of the meeting. Equally important was the need for immediate action to reduce carbon emissions across all sectors.
Moreover, the need for continuous revision of green standards, taking into account the latest technologies, was highlighted. This is to effectively reduce the carbon footprint, pollution levels, fuel poverty and social inequalities.
The activities in the Life After Coal project aim to create a sustainable future for society as a whole.
The project entitled ‘LIFE AFTER COAL PL – Implementation of the Eastern Wielkopolska 2040 Climate Neutrality Strategy’ is implemented with funding from the LIFE Programme of the European Union and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
