The inauguration of Wielkopolska Centre for Advanced Technologies (WCAT)

The inauguration of Wielkopolska Centre for Advanced Technologies (WCAT) took place on the 1st of December. WCAT is a multidisciplinary research centre established by Professor Bogdan Marciniec, the Director of PSTP.

WCAT is a centre gathering outstanding specialists in science and technology who focus on new materials and biomaterials for a wide range of applications. It originated on the basis of the consortium composed of 5 state universities, 4 institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Natural Fibres and Medicinal Plants and Poznań Science and Technology Park.
WCAT consists of three research centres: the Centre of Medical and Industrial Biotechnology, the Centre of Chemical Technology and Nanotechnology and the Centre of Materials Science.

WCAT’s research findings will be commercialised and transformed into business innovations and the operation of PSTP’s enterprises as our Park is one of the consortium members.

The inauguration of the Centre which was held on the 1st of December was also a perfect opportunity to evaluate its previous business activities. Professor Bogdan Marciniec, the Director of the Centre, its founder and initiator, an outstanding chemist, was proud to emphasise that the Centre currently implements projects with a total budget amounting to almost PLN 11 million.
