Visit from Lausitz Science Park
2024-06-19What to consider when setting up a science park? Meeting with Lausitz Science Park!
Lausitz Science Park is a new science park being built under the leadership of the Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus. We were delighted to host them and share our knowledge and experience with the emerging institution!
What is the structure of science and technology parks? What is their business model?
These were some of the first questions asked during the presentation of our park. The structure of science and technology parks often depends on factors such as funding or the profile of the institution and the services it provides. When setting up a new park, it is important to look at the mission and purpose of the park, what it will bring to the surrounding community and what it needs.
Science parks, like any business, need to be tailored to the market in which they are located. It is therefore worth considering the market gaps that currently exist or are likely to emerge in the coming years. When constructing the first building, the focus should be on the core business of the institution – what its primary purpose is and what it wants to achieve.
Our employees talked about our activities to support innovation – what we really mean by innovation, what programmes we participate in and what we do to create an environment in which they can thrive. We also discussed the services and the accelerator programmes we offer.
The delegation from the Lausitz Science Park had the opportunity to visit our radiocarbon laboratory and technology hall, as well as the green spaces around the park.
We would like to thank them for their visit and are pleased to have contributed to the establishment of the new facility.
