WE RECEIVED AN AWARD “CLUSTER MANAGMENT EXCELLENCE LABEL BRONZE – STRIVING FOR CLUSTER EXCELLENCE”

2022-07-20
Waste Cluster took part in the ECEI Cluster Management Benchmarking exercise organised by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA) of VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH in cooperation with Kadri Uus / Baltic Innovation Agency.

The European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA) is the one-stop shop for promoting Cluster Management Excellence through benchmarking and quality labelling of cluster management organisations worldwide. Our organisation fulfills the “Eligibility Criteria for Cluster Management Excellence Labels”, so we got “Cluster Management Excellence Label BRONZE – Striving for Cluster Excellence”.

Waste Cluster is a network of science and business connections that sets new standards in the waste management industry. A cluster is otherwise a voluntary association of companies and institutions in the same industry that compete against each other, but the operation of a cluster gives them the opportunity to collaborate and benefit from it, for example, by gaining competitive advantage over other players.

The award received is valid until July 31st, 2024. Waste Cluster had to prove its status as a “cluster organisation” as defined by the European Commission by fulfilling a set of so-called “Eligibility Criteria for Cluster Management Excellence Labels”.

The new set of eligibility criteria focuses on:

  • Existence of a real-existing technologically/sectorally/regionally focused cluster initiative with a dedicated cluster management of at least 0.5 full-time equivalent in place and at least 15 clearly committed cluster participants with a majority originating from the private sector.
  • The cluster management organisation must support the “enhancement of collaboration, networking and learning” and “provides or channels specialised and customised business support” to stimulate innovative activities, especially to SME.
  • The cluster management organisation is listed on the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP).
