PREPARE THE ARTICLE FOR THE SPECIAL EDITION IN THE “INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR SCIENCES”

2022-08-11
GREEN CHEMISTRY IS CONSTANTLY CHANGING AND EVOLVING, AND THE IMPORTANCE OF ITS DISCOVERY IS BECOMING CRUCIAL IN THE GLOBAL DISCUSSION ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. THE SPECIAL EDITION ‘ADANCED RESEARCH IN GREEN CHEMISTRY’ IN THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR SCIENCES (IF=6.208) IS INTENDED TO PRESENT THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS AND TRENDS IN GREEN CHEMISTRY-BASED RESEARCH.

Guest Editor this special edition is Dr. Marcin Śmiglak, Vice-President of the Board of the Adam Mickiewicz Foundation. The articles aim not only to present trends in green chemistry, but also to achieve the latest developments and are directly linked to the third edition of the conference “advances in Green Chemistry”, which will take place in Poznań’s Science and Technology Park from 26-30 to 13 September. The issue of the magazine is mainly intended for conference participants, however, all interested parties may contribute to it in the form of their studies.

Green chemistry, as a concept for the design and execution of chemical processes in such a way as to reduce the use and formation of harmful substances, covers a number of areas. From a scientific and industrial point of view, the most important areas are:

– materials,
– electrochemistry,
– catalysis,
– agrochemistry and
– ion liquids.

Polluting the environment with a wide range of plastics makes the design and research of new materials that are environmentally friendly is an important task to avoid dewarating water and soil. The environment also has to deal with other sources of pollution, including the identification of obsolete energy storage devices that place heavy metals on the environment. The environmental problem is also the production of industrial waste.

It is often pointed out that ionic liquids are a common denominator in research to address these problems. They are mainly known for their unique and specific design properties, which allow industrial problems to be solved while respecting the principles of green chemistry.

In order to summarize important results recently obtained in this area, the sending of original monographs related to the topic of green chemistry is possible until 31 December 2022. All information can be found here.
